First Data International, a global leader in electronic commerce and payment solutions, has announced the extension of a major contract with ConCardis GmbH, Germany’s leading merchant acquirer for credit and debit cards.

Under the contract, First Data will continue to provide payment processing services in support of the largest acquiring portfolio in Germany. The contract extension comes a few months after First Data completed its acquisition of GZS Gesellschaft für Zahlungssysteme mbH, the leading German processor with whom ConCardis signed the original contract.

"We looked for a partner to support our growth strategy," commented Manfred Krüger, chairman of the Management Board of ConCardis GmbH. "We found in First Data a powerful partner to help us improve our services in terms of flexibility and performance, and with whom we are pleased to continue our partnership." Other criteria affecting ConCardis's decision were First Data's local expertise and integration of the German operation into an international network.

Norbert Pawlowski, managing director of First Data in Germany, views the contract extension as confirmation of First Data's strength as a leading provider of processing services in Germany: "We are very pleased that ConCardis GmbH has decided to extend its contract with us for another five years. We have further enhanced our acquiring processing services in recent months and look forward to building our relationship with this leading German acquirer."
