VSoft Corporation, a global information and technology provider of process-improvement tools for financial institutions, announced that State Employees' Credit Union (SECU), the nation's second largest credit union, has chosen to implement its eDesk Branch Item Capture, Genesis (Check 21), and Archive solutions.

VSoft's Branch Item Capture provides full-featured, image-enabled data capture functions. Branch Item Capture will enable SECU's branch personnel to capture share draft (check) and ticket images at the branch level rather than physically transporting them to the central location. Branch personnel will use small devices to capture the items' data and images. As the checks are imaged and captured throughout the day, the images and MICR data can then be sent electronically to a central SECU location.

"The VSoft software solutions will accelerate the collection of transit checks and reduce the time for return notification," said Sue Douglas, senior vice president and chief operations officer, SECU. "Transit check clearing costs and check image costs will be reduced while also allowing SECU to eliminate microfilming of branch tickets. SECU is constantly looking to improve its efficiency and save member dollars."

VSoft's Archive solution offers SECU powerful search capabilities to quickly perform research into member data, transaction data, and item images, including these archived checks and tickets captured at branch locations. Designated personnel can instantly research items and transactions from remote locations using the browser-based interface. Upon completion of balancing and reconciliation, these images are moved into SECU's enterprise image archive system, allowing members to research their own account over the Internet.

"VSoft offered the best overall software that was flexible enough to meet our needs," added Douglas. "It is the best cost value for the software. VSoft was the vendor most willing to customize the software to meet our needs."

Using VSoft's eDesk Genesis, SECU can exchange images received from its branch locations in compliance with Check 21. eDesk Genesis allows SECU to exchange electronic cash letters with images directly, through exchange organizations, or print substitute checks if an endpoint cannot receive electronic cash letters.

"With VSoft's state-of-the-art software solutions, SECU will step away from the outdated process of a manual, paper based check clearing system," said Murthy Veeraghanta, president, VSoft Corporation. "The benefits of imaging will allow SECU to reduce costs, save time, and improve overall efficiencies."
