Google Payment Lithuania is launching a bank account verification service, a new optional solution designed to enhance the customer experience for business customers across Europe.
The service is provided in collaboration with Open Banking infrastructure platform Yapily.
The new optional service streamlines the bank account verification process for European business customers, enabling faster account activation and service access, through a secure, user-directed flow.
Google Payment Lithuania is registered as an e-money institution by the Bank of Lithuania.
“Lithuania provides a strong and well-regulated fintech environment,” says Paulius Vertelka, Managing Director of Google Payment Lithuania. “The optional bank account verification service represents an expansion in how we can support our business customers in Europe, and we are proud that this project is making its debut from Google Payments in Lithuania.”
The service is provided in collaboration with Open Banking infrastructure platform Yapily, which set up its Lithuanian office in 2021.
Edvinas Grikšas, the Lithuanian Minister of the Economy and Innovation, emphasises the impact of Google's choice: “This collaboration demonstrates that Lithuania offers not just operational capabilities, but a ripe environment for innovating and scaling financial services across the continent.”
For Elijus Čivilis, General Manager of Invest Lithuania, the project showcases an important dimension of Lithuania's value proposition.
“We are a destination not just for establishing operations, but also for developing pioneering solutions. Google’s collaboration signals that global innovators can find a fitting combination of regulatory expertise, technical talent, and strategic location here to bring their projects to life.”
