Klarna, the global digital bank and flexible payments provider, announced today the nationwide rollout of its in-store payment solutions across Walmart Canada’s network of 400+ stores, making Walmart Canada the largest retailer in the country to offer Klarna’s flexible payments options.
In addition to using the Klarna Buy Now, Pay Later solution on walmart.ca and the mobile app
, Walmart Canada customers can now use Klarna to pay in-store via QR code at assisted checkout lanes, choosing between Pay in Full for a seamless one-time payment, or Pay in 4 to split purchases into four interest-free installments for purchases over $50 CAD. Customers simply scan a QR code displayed on the POS screen at checkout with their mobile device, making everyday purchases more flexible, transparent, and in their control.
“As Klarna continues to bridge digital and physical retail, we’re proud to collaborate with Walmart Canada to bring smarter, more flexible ways to pay to millions of shoppers,” said David Sykes, Chief Commercial Officer at Klarna. “This milestone reflects our ambition to be the everyday spending partner for consumers—everywhere and for everything. We're committed to offering payment options that are transparent and empower smart and responsible spending.”
Since launching in 2020, Klarna’s in-store payment solution has provided millions of Canadians greater control at checkout. With over 13.7 million in-store transactions enabled to date, Klarna is redefining the in-store experience with a more flexible way to shop.
“At Walmart Canada, we strive to be Canada’s most trusted omnichannel retailer, and that means catering to our customers’ needs - no matter how they choose to shop with us. We’re always looking for innovative ways to enhance the shopping experience and provide more flexibility and convenience for our customers,” said Joseph Godsey, Chief Growth Officer at Walmart Canada. “Introducing BNPL options, powered by Klarna, across our stores allows us to provide even more payment choice to the 1.5 million customers we have the opportunity to serve each day.”
