The Home Office has announced a second series of ads targeted at specific hotspots where it wants to encourage prevention of crime.
The four week campaign kicks off today.
Cash machines in selected London boroughs and 10 cities, including Liverpool, Coventry, Sheffield and Wolverhampton will display ads with the message: 'Keep it Safe, Keep it Hidden'. The focus is on people keeping items such as cash cards, mobile phones, MP3 players and laptops safe to prevent 'acquisitive' theft crimes.
The campaign, which was planned and bought by Posterscope, is expected to deliver 1,140,000 one-to-ones, 4,560,000 impacts and generate approximately 285,000 cash machine receipts, which will also feature the campaign message.
A Home Office spokesman said: "Reducing mobile phone theft is critical to reducing personal robbery. Although statistically the risk of having your mobile phone stolen is lower today than ever before, the mobile phone is still a key driver in the number of robberies that happen on our streets everyday. This ATM campaign is a key part of a concerted programme announced by the Home Secretary to bring down robbery".
