Fixed income network TradeWeb has hired Chris Smith to head up the launch of its straight-through processing products in Europe.
TradeWeb's STP prouct TradeXpress is in beta test phase in Europe and live in North America, alongside AccountNet, a Web-based standing settlement instruction (SSI) database. In his new role, Smith will be responsible for deployment of both of these products in Europe.
Smith joins TradeWeb from Reuters where he was responsible for developing STP strategy. Prior to working at Reuters he was director of global strategy, planning and marketing at Thomson ESG division (now Omgeo).
Before this Smith managed the middle office at Fidelity Investments in London. While at Fidelity, he was also involved in setting up the industry's Electronic Trade Confirmation initiative.
