Hansabank rolls out Lithuania's first Visa smart cards

Baltic banking group Hansabank has begun issuing Visa smart cards at its Lithuania division using software from TietoEnator.

The bank initially used the software to issue a test batch of Visa Electron cards with installed microchip technology.

The TietoEnator software processes card authorisation messages and provides EMV verification for Hansabank's smart cards.

Maris Ozolins, senior vice president, banking and finance, TietoEnator, says: "Complete support of EMV standard is one of the key features of our payment card solutions."
