Chicago-based custodian Northern Trust Company has introduced Event Analyst, an online tool that allows institutional clients to monitor the impact of marketplace events on their asset portfolios.
The new tool enables users to set volatility parameters according to securities, currencies and market fluctuations. The system automatically notifies clients via e-mail when these pre-determined parameters have been violated.
For each security impacted, Event Analyst provides overall client exposure and historical performance information. Furthermore, the system provides the client with relevant benchmark reporting for the impacted security and other top holdings.
Matthew Tushman, vice president and Event Analyst product manager at Northern Trust, says clients demand concise, relevant data they can use to make sound decisions related to market exposure and portfolio performance, all in the context of the larger marketplace.
"Our goal is to help clients spend their time interpreting events, rather than running around gathering data," says Tushman.
The tool was introduced to a select group of customers earlier in the year during a controlled rollout and is now available to all Northern Trust institutional clients.
