Mark O'Brien, Swissca's associate director for systems and operations, says the firm decided to switch to the Oracle platform to improve transaction processing throughput.

Swissica uses Syn~Orders to automate order management activity and to achieve STP by interfacing to both its existing back office software and to client applications via the Internet or Reuters ITD.

The conversion to Oracle was completed within 10 months and without any major changes to functionality, workflow processes or business logic, says Swissca's O'Brien.

"The bulk of the ten month project was spent in converting data and rigorous regression testing with very few changes being made to the code of the application," he says.
