Barclays Life signed a three year deal for the package with Thomson Financial in December 2002 with an option to extend for a further two years. Linedata Services acquired the Icon product, staff and customer base in February 2003.

The bank has migrated from Thomson's bureau system, which was used as a hub for managing asset holdings and investment accounting and is using Icon on a managed services basis.

Paul Roberts, COO, Linedata Services, says: "There is a growing constituency of customers who have opted for Icon on a facilities managed basis, reflecting the general market trend towards outsourcing non-core activities to specialist providers."
