Reuters' chief executive Peter Job and executive director David Ure are to join the board of subsidiary company Tibco Software.
"Tibco is very fortunate to have Peter and David join our board of directors," says Vivek Ranadive, chairman and CEO of Tibco. "They will provide valuable strategic counsel as Tibco expands its role as a leading provider of infrastructure software for e-business."
The high level appointments signal the beginnings of an increasingly integrated and strategic role for Tib technology within the Reuters business empire. David Ure is responsible at a board level for accelerating plans for the group's Internet and technical strategy. He is also chairman of Radianz, the Reuters and Equant joint venture for business-to-business e-commerce. Radianz plans to develop the world's largest Internet Protocol (IP) network for financial markets and anticipates basing the network on Tibco's e-business infrastructure software. Companies which have already invested in TIB technology for enterprise-wide applications will be able to use Radianz to extend those applications to their clients, their suppliers and their extended communities of interest.
Job and Ure replace Reuters executives John Taysom and Doug Atkin as Tibco board members. Reuters has three of nine Tibco board seats as a result of its ownership in the company.
