Under the deals, worth a combined value of $6.7 million, NCR will provide Shanghai-based Bank of Communications with ATMs for its 50 branches throughout China. The vendor will also supply Agricultural Credit Union Bank with its Persona cash machines, which will be deployed at the bank's Dongguan city branch.

CK Chan, area general manager for NCRs financial solutions division, China and Hong Kong, says China now has 50,000 ATMs serving 1.2 billion people and the gradual acceptance of the units will create demand for new functionality.

"The introduction of NCR's Aptra software to China will help banks develop more revenue streams and, at the same time, meet the increasing demand from the public," says Chan.

NCR says its Windows-based Aptra platform enables value-added services such as advertising and joint promotional activities.
