RBC Royal Bank has added an embedded chip to its Visa Platinum Avion card in a bid to prepare well-travelled Canadian customers for the roll-out of smart cards in international markets.
RBC says the new card will provide greater security for international travel as many countries outside North America have already moved to smart cards.
"The RBC Royal Bank Platinum Avion prepares our clients for the future and gives them more for the present," says Sean Amato-Gauci, director, card product development, RBC Royal Bank. "With the addition of chip technology, we have now put the foundation in place for our clients who are most likely to benefit from this feature today."
