Fame Information Services has teamed up with Tap Ventures to deliver a combined reference data management and master securities database solution for capital markets companies.
The agreement provides for the integration of Fame's database products with TAPMaster, Tap Venture's new global capital markets securities master server.
Launched late last month, TAPMaster has been designed to address growing requirements to properly identify and verify, as well as compile, collate, and distribute accurate securities data to common business applications, ranging from the trading floor through to settlement and other operations.
The product is a cross asset, cross data type application, built on Microsoft's .NET technology platform. The application interfaces with standard vendor datafeeds found at most financial services centres to deliver a single, consistent view of the content regardless of its source. TAPMaster supports direct database querying using SQL, as well as a library of Web Services designed to provide specific enterprise business functions such as cross referencing, symbol lookup, and portfolio valuation.
Tap Ventures claims to have signed two beta clients, in New York and Vancouver, for the product.
The partnership with Fame follows the recent launch by the latter of ReferencePoint, a product addressing the consolidation, management and integration of reference and historical data throughout the open enterprise, and ReferencePoint Plus, for outsourced data management.
Saad Rashid, managing director, Fame Information Services, says: "We have worked with the world's top firms to develop a solution that solves market data management at many levels, from a security master of cleansed data to a desktop application for data viewing, analysis and calculations."
ReferencePoint is composed of closely integrated software components that consolidate, manage and integrate market data for deployment in a number of business applications. It addresses the needs of asset management and sell-side firms for an integrated data management solution to aid in portfolio management, valuation, attribution, says the vendor, and can also help risk managers produce accurate risk numbers based on cleansed and cross-referenced market data
The product has already been deployed in more than 30 institutions with diverse business needs, says Rashid.
He adds: "Institutions are aware of the problems they have in the area of data management, administrating a number of market databases and the dilemma in creating yet another database to solve this problem. ReferencePoint has the ability to leverage existing environments with a strong focus on multi-platform, multi-database connectivity and the notion of creating virtual data stores."
