The upgrade package will give merchants the capability to use their point-of-sale terminals to sell a host of additional services to customers, including telephone vouchers and ring tones, cinema tickets, electronic gift vouchers, magazine subscriptions and bill payments. Retailers will receive a commission for every product sold.

The CBA says it has 100,000 eftpos customers nationwide. The new service is being introduced in association with e-commerce firm Intellect.
