IFX Forum releases latest specification

The Interactive Financial eXchange (IFX) Forum has released version 1.4 of the IFX specification, which incorporates new features to support ATM, POS and other financial channels

The Forum, which comprises financial institutions, service providers and software vendors, says the latest verion of the XML spec builds on IFX's multi-channel capabilities. Version 1.4 offers explicit support for foreign exchange information exchange with corporate customers alongside a raft of ATM/POS improvements.

Rick DuVall, ACI Worldwide senior product manager and vice-chair of the IFX ATM/POS working group, says: "The resulting message specification brings more openness and flexibility to the ATM industry, allowing financial institutions to apply a common message standard to support not only multi-vendor ATM environments but also other delivery channels."

The public review period for the latest version of the spec ends on 14 February, 2003. Preliminary work is already progressing on version 1.5. which is slated to include such functions as pre-paid phone recharge capabilities, person-to-person payments, and several cheque-related and money order purchase features.
