Colossus is a Web-based claims evaluation system that uses more than 10,000 rules to apply its claims, medical and legal information to help staff when making claims settlements.

John Thomson, Royal & SunAlliance's claims operations manager, comments: "Our 800 claims handlers are now able to make fairer and more consistent assessments of personal injury claims and this has brought about impressive cost savings."

CSC says it has invested heavily in the design and development of the product over the last year.
