Banco Comercial Portugues (BCP) is launching a new French multi-channel bank through a multi-million pound integration project managed by financial technology specialist Fiserv.
Fiserv replaced legacy systems within three separate subsidiary banks acquired by BCP to create a single banking network, Banque BCP, which integrates customer databases and provides a unified approach to customer services across 65 branches in France and Luxembourg.
The Fiserv solution is integrated with existing legacy systems and additional software that was created by the local IT department. Users will be able to access and update customer information in real time through all existing channels including ATMs, telephone banking and the Internet.
"The project involved working for a Portuguese company in a French bank," says Nigel Kohler, managing director at Fiserv Europe. "Apart from the obvious language barriers, we also had the challenge of creating a system that was easy to use for all involved. To ensure usability, we helped the bank develop a training module in French which has been rolled out to the branches to help users familiarise themselves with the system."
