Australian financial services group Suncorp-Metway has selected Certegy to provide processing services for its new Visa card programme which is scheduled to launch in 2003.
Georgia-based Certegy will process Suncorp's Visa portfolio using its third-party Base2000 multi-currency payment platform at its processing centre located in Melbourne.
Certegy says it will be processing 3.5 million cards at its Australian centre by year end.
Richard Palmer, general manager, Certegy Card Services, Australia, comments: "We are convinced that the scale economies that we can deliver will be highly attractive to existing banks and other new entrants into the card issuing market."
