First Data launches First aSuretee to offer digital authentication

First Data, e-commerce and payment services vendor, has formed First aSuretee to offer financial firms e-business authentication solutions.

First aSuretee will help companies to implement an account-based digital dignature (ABDS) solution that it says will provide a cost-effective replacement for handwritten signatures.

The solution will allow companies to use digital signatures to authenticate electronic users to their existing accounts. By using aSuretee technologies to bind electronic users to transactions, the company says businesses can get an audit of transactions effectively and mitigate fraud.

Gene Kathol, vice president of research and development for First Data, and managing director of First aSuretee, says: "The aSuretee technologies were conceived to solve the financial industry's requirements for a secure electronic payment solution that was efficient and scalable."

First Data says it is incorporating aSuretee technologies in a variety of customer service solutions such as viewing statements on-line, ordering gift cards and administering payroll and commercial card services.
