Visa launches A/P financial education Web site

Visa Asia Pacific is launching a free English-language financial education Web site to promote practical money management skills and the responsible use of credit cards.

The site, mymoneyskills.com, offers self-paced lessons, over 200 tips on day-to-day money management and covers topics such as budgeting and saving, managing debt, banking services and card security. The lessons also come with an array of interactive quizzes, calculators and banking tutors.

Visa says Chinese, Korean and Japanese versions of the Web site will be introduced for the other major card markets in the region over the next few months.

In conjunction with the launch of the site, Visa commissioned a consumer poll on financial literacy in countries in Asia Pacific. According to the poll 85% of consumers feel that finances are important and the topic they think about most frequently next to family, but more than 50% had no basic financial skills.
