The new connection will provide access to more than 60 futures and options contracts for commodity, financial and equity products over Bloomberg's Professional Service platform.

Andrew Hausman, global manager, futures trading, says: "Connecting to the Chicago Board of Trade is part of our overall strategy of providing access to the world's most popular electronic exchanges giving our clients the ability to trade 24hrs a day over one platform."

He adds that roll out to member firms will begin next month.

Users of the Bloomberg platform are currently able to trade futures electronically with Euronext-LIFFE, Eurex, Matif and the Singapore Exchange.
