FaceTime claims an industry-first for the new application, which bridges all US wireless networks and supports thin clients for all major wireless devices, including: Palm III, V, VII, Visor, RIM and CE devices for secure, mobile-to-mobile wireless IM.

NuTech Software Solutions, a New York City-based supplier of RIM wireless devices, has joined FaceTime's partner programme to resell the IM Auditor application to financial services customers that require compliance with government and industry regulations for correspondence over public and private IM networks.

Glen Vondrick, president and CEO of FaceTime, says: "Until now, the increasing proliferation of wireless devices and wireless instant messaging communication has been outside the scope for most enterprises to manage, log and audit."

FaceTime's IM solutions enable multi-network access to public IM networks such as AOL, Microsoft, and Yahoo!, as well as private IM networks such as IBM Lotus Sametime and Reuters Messaging - which is slated for introduction by the news and information group on Monday 14 October.

FaceTime banking customers include BankOne, Fimat, Soundview Technologies, Thomas Weisel Partners, Wachovia Securities and Western Union.
