UK security outfit NTA Monitor has won contracts to test the Internet systems of Tullett & Tokyo Liberty Bank and Skipton Building Society.
The one-off tests will check the security configurations and effectiveness of the Internet gateway installations at the UK-based bank and building society. The testing is done remotely and does not require access to the company network or servers or to privileged information such as account/password data, says NTA.
The testing, which may be once only or conducted on a regular basis, includes monitoring for all known vulnerabilities, including the most recent at the time of the test, as well as Internet security deficiencies. A written report highlights outstanding issues and recommendations.
Deri Jones of NTA Monitor says: “Regular Internet security testing is vital for banks with a permanent Internet connection - whether the connection is primarily for e-mail, for giving staff access to the external World Wide Web or for running an in-house WWW server.”
