Dresdner Kleinwort Benson opens Online Markets Portal

Dresdner Kleinwort Benson (DrKB), is using Sun servers and the SunConnect architecture to unify its electronic product delivery systems and give clients direct access to global capital markets via a proprietary Online Markets Portal.

"The front office of investment banks will ultimately focus on risk taking, managing and providing liquidity for electronic marketplaces, and interfacing with the customer," says Matthias Leclerc, global head of Online Markets at DrKB. "The Online Markets Portal (is) central to our business and supports our move to streamline processes and electronic services."

The new system was developed to meet the company's need for a unified electronic offering. Through the Online Markets Portal, DrKB's institutional clients, corporate customers and banks have authenticated access to a matrix of trading products and services, along with news, market data, research and analysis.

The DrKB Portal contains market-related information from various parts of the bank that can be tailored to individual user needs. The trading capabilities of the system are being extended month by month, and the system currently runs applications for trading European government bonds, foreign exchange, exchange-traded products, German equities, bonds, forex options and interest rate derivatives. Money market applications are slated to launch in the near future.
