The voice-quote service will enable Scottrade clients to retrieve real-time stock and options quotes and create up to three stock watch lists for immediate access, simply by speaking into any telephone.

Additionally, clients can instantly be connected to a broker in one of Scottrade’s 160 local branch offices.

Rodger Riney, president of St Louis-based Scottrade, says: "The anywhere, anytime access to current financial information as well as the user friendly speech recognition interface that Wall Street Connect’s voice-quote service provides will serve as a convenient channel alternative for our clients to access market information."

London-based Hemscott announced two days ago that it will introduce a similar speech recognition system for UK stock quotes later this year.
