Banesco is part of Grupo Financiero Banesco-Unibanca, the second largest financial group in Venezuela, with 700 ATMs and 18,000 POS devices. The bank is to deploy the S2 package for Windows 2000 on Stratus Technologies' ftServer, consolidating multiple proprietary systems inherited from a wave of M&A activity in the domestic banking market.

Currently Banesco utilises an S2 solution for processing debit and credit transactions for its nationwide ATM/POS network, with international transactions routed to Visa and MasterCard.

Mayerlin Flores, vice president electronic banking for Banesco, says: "Deployment of this combined solution improves systems performance with lowered cost of ownership."
