A new report from Alliance & Leicester into leisure activities of small business owners in the UK reveals only a minority enjoy surfing the Web and emailing in their spare time.

The research was conducted by NOP on behalf of the bank amongst 500 small business owners in the UK.

While the majority of small businesses are computer literate - with 71% owning a PC and 84% of those that do having access to the Internet - only three per cent list surfing the Web as a key leisure activity, says the report.

Instead, one in four owners of small businesses say they are most likely to workout at a gym or play sport in order to switch off from work. This was followed by 24% enjoying country pursuits such as walking or fishing.
