Brazil's third largest bank, Caixa Economica Federal (CEF), has purchased advanced-function automated teller machines (ATM), cheque dispensing terminals and related services from Diebold in a deal worth nearly $43 million.
Under the agreement, the terminals will be installed at 1800 CEF branches throughout the country by the end of 2002.
In 2001 CEF signed a separate outsourcing agreement with Diebold for the management of its 'Blue Rooms' self-service network. The 500-strong network of Blue Rooms offer customers around-the-clock access to advanced-function ATMs, cash dispensers and cheque-sheet dispensers.
