SunGard Online Investment Systems has acquired market data outfit Tradeline.com from US private buyout firm Platinum Equity. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
SunGard says the acquisition will strengthen its growing PowerData line of market data services, providing a greater depth of historical pricing data and a wider breadth of distributed services.
"The Tradeline.com acquisition gives us a larger footprint in the market data business, both in terms of the type and coverage of our content," states John Hyde, group chief executive officer of SunGard Online Investment Systems.
Tradeline.com provides comprehensive market data and financial information to US and international investment banking firms through a suite of proprietary databases and application interfaces. Tradeline Interactive Professional (TIP) is a Web-based application that enables users to access Tradeline.com's historical pricing data over the Internet. Tradeline Interactive Components (TIC) offers charts, quotes, news, financials, estimates, symbol matching and historical pricing data.
Other recent SunGard acquisitions include the PowerPartner product from Bridge Information Systems and Unilink Financial Services (UFS), a data aggregator with more than 40 branded financial information databases, covering broad product categories that include pricing, trading and advisory, earnings estimates, holdings and descriptions, research and news.
