UK building society Britannia has upgraded its Internet banking service with the introduction of an online mortgage quotation facility for homebuyers.
Potential borrowers can use the Internet facility to calculate how much they can borrow based on their personal circumstances and the repayments they would need to make, and can provide all the information needed for a subsequent mortgage application.
Britannia says the new Web service will cut the mortgage quotation process from around 45 minutes to approximately 10 minutes per application and will reduce paperwork for branch and customer support centre staff.
Martin Ellison, head of IS at Britannia, says the new facility will make it easier for prospective customer to check their eligibility for a Brittania mortgage.
Last year, Britannia reported over £50 million in online mortgage sales, complementing its network of 190 branches and its telephone-based customer support centre.
The underlying infrastructure for the Britannia Web site was delivered by IT services provider Integris - recently acquired from Bull by Steria.
