Phase I of the project - scheduled to begin immediately - will consist of the implementation of Genesis in the bank's emerging markets loan trading desk. Phase II will encompass the joint development and implementation of a loan trading system for the US par and distressed loans area, again using Genesis as the template.

The system can be accessed either through a Windows GUI, or via browser-based ASP pages. Based on Microsoft's SQL Server database platform, Genesis incorporates Microsoft's DCom for component deployment, MSMQ for messaging, and MTS Transaction Server to provide data integrity across multiple sites.

Salomon Smith Barney's emerging markets loan trading desk is an existing user of the predecessor to Genesis, Exis' ATS/ONE platform.
