KBC selects SoftQuad XML technology for data warehouse

Belgium's KBC Bank has selected SoftQuad's XML-based technology for content delivery to an enterprise-wide knowledge repository.

The bank's Integrated Knowledge Base contains comprehensive business information on products, pricing, policies and processes, and can be accessed by the company's 20,000 employees.

KBC's 250 content authors will use SoftQuad XMetaL to create and submit new information directly into this datawarehouse. The bank says it chose to create, store and manage its content in XML because the structured approach makes it much easier for company employees to find, share and re-use information, as well as re-position content across multiple delivery channels.

Wim Perdieus, information architect at KBC, comments: "The need for up-to-date information via our Web site and company intranet is increasing all the time, so the content of our knowledge base has to be input with relative ease and speed. We decided that SoftQuad XMetaL was ideal for KBC, due to its user-friendliness and flexibility. XMetaL is also integrated with Documentum's 4i e-business platform, around which our Integrated Knowledge Base was built."
