Electronic commodity marketplace IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) has promoted Edwin Marcial to senior vice president and chief technology officer (CTO).
In his new role as CTO, Marcial will be responsible for ICE’s systems development and overall technology strategy. He will also lead the technology development programme involving electronic trading of products traded on the recently acquired International Petroleum Exchange (IPE). He will oversee a 50 plus team working on software development, quality assurance, security and networking initiatives.
In 1996, Marcial joined the software development team at Continental Power Exchange (CPEX) - the first ever power exchange in North America whose trading system now serves as the technological backbone of ICE. Since then he has held a number of positions within the company, most recently vice president of technology, ICE.
Prior to joining CPEX, he led design and development teams at GE Power Systems and built distributed applications for the company’s energy management systems.
