The new 'Holiday Money' facility allows registered Internet banking customers to order travellers cheques in nine different currencies and cash in a wide range of foreign currencies. Halifax claims to be the first UK high street bank to offer such as service.

The cost of the currency is debited direct from the customer’s chosen account with no extra charge and the currency and/or travellers cheques delivered to a Halifax branch of the customer’s choice for collection the following day. Delivery of travel money direct to customers’ home addresses is also in the pipeline.

Halifax Online was launched in September 1999 and now boasts over 630,000 registered users.
