Mizuho Financial Group is looking to foster Japan's blockchain ecosystem by sponsoring a new dedicated co-working space in downtown Tokyo.
The space, called Neutrino, is being set up by payments firm Omise Japan and has the backing of companies from various industries.
Mizuho will not only sponsor the site but also set up as a long-term tenant as it seeks to collaborate with other members to find new applications for blockchain technology.
Says the firm: "We believe that this project and these interactions will bring us one step closer to developing commercial applications for blockchain technology."
Mizuho is already working extensively in the field of DLT, collaborating with Fujitsu to trial the technology for P2P money transfers as well as to streamline the settlement of cross-border securities transactions.
