St Helena, one of the most remote islands in the world, has been wired up to the outside world courtesy of an Internet banking solution from Crown Agents Financial Services. The Government of St Helena is the first customer for CAFSL's recently implemented Active Bank Internet Banking system, supplied by Financial Objects.
Located off the coast of Southern Africa, it takes 5 days by boat from Cape Town to reach St Helena.
Stuart Ponder, director-client relations, CAFSL, says: "Our objective was to find a supplier with the ability to support and maintain an e-banking solution despite the distant location of our clients. After the pilot test, it took us only five days to bring the historic island of St Helena into the 21st Century - including installation and training."
