Alliance & Leicester moves to BEA Weblogic platform

The homeowner site has been designed to offer a complete information centre for anyone considering moving house or improving their current home. Customers will be offered advice and guidance as well as a do-it-yourself project planner, property search facility, online couponing of special offers and a range of goods from associated partners.

The site was developed by BEA Systems' partner, imagin Europe Ltd, whose task was to develop an online presence that would act as more than just a forum for consumer financial transactions, enabling Alliance & Leicester to build and develop customer relationships via the Web.

Andrew Robinson, e-commerce director of Alliance and Leicester, comments: "Given the huge potential of growth for this project, the flexibility of BEA's WebLogic Server is vital to our technology framework. As the site grows, we can personalise the movingimproving.com product offering, according to demand and maximise return."

The building society has set a target of one million visitors in the first year of operation.
