Lastminute has joined with stakeholderpensions.com - an online pensions service operated by The Independent Stakeholder Company (Tisco) - to deliver a system designed to offer UK employers a variety of stakeholder schemes for their employees ahead of the government's 8 October deadline.

Helen Baker, UK managing director, lastminute.com, says: "Potentially thousands of our registered users are key decision makers in those companies which will be affected by the governments 8 October 2001 deadline for implementing stakeholder pensions. We believe through StakeholderPensions.com our users will not only gain access to some great pension providers - but we could also help our users avoid any potential fines."

Lastminute will take a cut of the commissions generated by employees who take out a pension via their employer.

Providers currently available through the Tisco panel include: Friends Provident, Norwich Union, NPI, Scottish Equitable, Scottish Life, Scottish Mutual and Standard Life.
