US-based Providian Financial has selected WorldCom to provide custom Web hosting services for the bank's customer-facing and corporate Internet activities. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Providian turned to WorldCom after experiencing unprecedented growth in its offline and online business, including nearly four million new customer account openings in 2000.
Tanni Graichen, executive vice president integrated card business technology at Providian Financial, says: "The Internet is a critical channel for our customers and business overall. Our internal and external customer expectations are extremely high."
