ACI Virtual Wallet is certified as secure

ACI Worldwide's consumer digital wallet has been successfully tested and certified by SETco. SETco manages the specification, compliance and testing of companies wishing to adopt SET, the single standard which uses encryption technology to safeguard purchases made over open networks.

ACI Worldwide is based in Omaha, US and provides enterprise e-payments solutions. The ACI Virtual Wallet stores consumers’ personal information and automatically completes payment forms, secure log-in screens and other consumer-defined Web pages. It initiates e-payments via multiple devices, including personal computers and personal digital assistants.

Certification gives ACI Worldwide the right to use the SET trademark with the ACI Virtual Wallet. The company claims this is one of the first electronic wallet software products to support both SET and secure socket layer (SSL) security protocols for electronic commerce.

Mark Vipond, president of ACI Worldwide, says: "Our goal is to bundle multiple payment protocols in our products and remain open to numerous methods of securing e-commerce transactions.

"We want to give our customers the ability to use the security method that works for them - whether it is SSL, SET or the many new secure e-commerce payment protocols being developed in the market."

Wallet issuers using ACI Virtual Wallet can brand wallets to reflect marketing and business strategies and provide branding opportunities to online partner organisations.
