BlackBerry has struck a three year deal with Canadian telco-owned mobile payments joint venture Enstream to provide a secure platform for transactions between banks and their customers.
Under the agreement, EnStream - which is owned by Bell, Rogers and Telus - will use BlackBerry's infrastructure to enable banks and mobile operators to securely provision sensitive payment card credentials into any handset capable of near field communication.
The deal, which builds on a 2012 agreement between EnStream and BlackBerry, will see the technology used by Royal Bank of Canada, TD Bank Group, CIBC and Desjardins.
