Chinese Web media behemoth Sina has outlined plans to start offering online banking services later this year, according to local media reports.

The company, most famous for its popular Weibo micro-blogging platform, gave details of the service - which will let users carry out bank transfers, remittances, and manage their investments and credit cards - at its Banking Development Forum this week, says Beijing News.

Sina already operates 'Weibo Wallet', a socially-enabled wallet which allows users of its micro-blogging site to conduct business online.
