The new software tools are being made available under the Simplify Commerce brand, a business venture spawned from the card scheme's internal incubation unit within MasterCard Labs.

Simplify Commerce is being billed as a 'developer-friendly' unit with a brief to entice smaller merchants into the digital commerce fold, regardless of payment brand.

The company is offering APIs and SDKs in a variety of programming languages such as Ruby, PHP, Python and Java, along with sample source code and engineering support. Mobile SDKs for iOS and Android are also available.

Garry Lyons, chief innovation officer for MasterCard, says: "By offering straightforward integration tools to developers and streamlining the process for businesses to get a merchant account, Simplify Commerce makes it easy for merchants to deliver online and mobile payments experiences to their customers."
