CaixaBank hosts international forum for mobile banking experts

CaixaBank will be hosting MobeyDay 2013 in Barcelona, bringing together financial institutions from all over the world, as well as network operators, technology providers and consultancy firms specialising in mobile banking.

The international Mobey Forum meeting organised in association with Finextra will be held at CaixaForum in Barcelona, tomorrow, 11th of June 2013.

Around 250 experts are expected to take part in the event this year, which is more than the number of delegates attended in 2012 when the 1st edition of the event was also held in Barcelona.

By hosting MobeyDay for the second consecutive year, CaixaBank says it expects to consolidate Barcelona as the home of this innovation-driven event, "which has a very strong future", given the boom in mobile financial services.

In 2012 CaixaBank processed more than 600 million mobile operations, up 250% against 2011. According to CaixaBank figures, more operations are now processed using mobile devices than via ATMs.

Late last month, CaixaBank, Santander and Telefónica announced an agreement to set up a joint venture to develop a range of digital services, including a mobile wallet.

MobeyDay 2013 will cover issues such as merchant card payment strategies using new mobile POSs, the opportunities that big data will open for the financial industry, the emergence of mobile wallets and technological advances that will create value added services (VAS).

There will also be a networking area for those at the event, which will feature an exhibition of the latest mobile banking services and products from leading banks, technology providers and consultancy firms.
