Garban-Intercapital outsources trading network to IXnet

Garban-Intercapital is to outsource its European and Asian communications network to IXnet, a global extranet designed principally for the financial services community.

As part of the outsourcing agreement, IXnet will acquire from Garban, network assets covering thousands of voice and data circuits. In addition, Garban staff supporting the existing network will join IXnet’s London-based team.

A key element of Garban’s global strategy is the introduction of e-commerce systems that display information and deliver electronic trade execution to existing and potential clients. Garban’s European and Asian communications network will migrate to IXnet in support of this and other network initiatives.

Lance Fisher, Garban’s IT director for Europe and Asia, says: “Outsourcing to IXnet enables us to replace disparate legacy networks, acquired over the last two years, with a state-of-the-art, uniform communications network. With IXnet, we can migrate more rapidly from voice-based broking to the delivery of IP-based transactions services across multiple continents.”

He adds that the outsourcing solution provided by IXnet will enable Garban to deliver a new generation of electronic trading systems while at the same time reducing capital investment. The network allows new clients and services to be added without Garban having to hold inventory and manage bandwidth.
