Turkey's TEB-BNP Paribas inks ATM deal with First Data

Turkish bank TEB-BNP Paribas and US vendor First Data have agreed to build a 1250-strong retail ATM network over the next three years.

The cash machines will be installed at retail sites and other locations in Istanbul and major cities across Turkey.

The partners say the ATMs offer retailers a new customer communication channel and revenue generating opportunity while providing cardholders greater availability and functionality.

Paul Stanley, general manager, integrated networks, First Data, says: "Banks are increasingly realising the opportunities presented by off-site ATM strategies and the benefits of working with an experienced ATM services provider."

First Data's idea of a "new channel" has enormous comedic potential.  I'm sure I was using ATMs 30 years ago?
