Mastercard prepares for pre-paid and debit card marketing campaign

Mastercard International has extended its marketing agreement with US-based MyPoints.com to allow for the joint development and marketing of debit and pre-paid solutions through 2005.

The two companies already co-promote several innovative debit programs, powered by Ecount technology. The first of these debit programs is the MyPoints Webcertificate, a re-loadable MasterCard debit gift card that can be used at the 21 million locations at which MasterCard is accepted worldwide.

MyPoints program members earn points for a wide variety of online and offline activities including reading and responding to targeted email and Web-based offers, visiting Web sites, shopping, dining out and other everyday transactions. Leveraging Ecount's stored value technology, the gift card will also be included as a redemption option, allowing members to redeem points for a gift card, which can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted.
