In selecting the system, SanPaolo wanted to automate its existing approach to performance measurement and incorporate its own proprietary models for attribution.

Giuseppe Malinverni, director of information systems at SanPaolo, comments: “It was important to us that the system could slot into our current IT infrastructure, interfacing with other in-house systems, and using our own in-house developed models for performance calculations.”

Sylvan enables users to define any number of asset class and sector schemes for each portfolio and then create and select a choice of attribution model structures and benchmark comparisons, says FMC. Output may be tailored for management, marketing and client services divisions.
