Atos Origin inks BNP Paribas outsourcing deal

Paris-listed Atos Origin has won a five-year contract, worth £50 million, to provide outsourced technology services to French banking group BNP Paribas.

Atos Origin inked the deal with BP²I, a joint venture established by BNP Paribas and IBM.

Under the agreement the French IT services group Atos Origin will provide desktop services for BNP Paribas' corporate and investment banking business in the UK and retail banking operations in France.

Atos Origin says it will work with BP²I and BNP Paribas to will deliver a bespoke system that will "transform the delivery of IT services" at BNP Paribas, to reduce costs, increase efficiencies and improve quality of service.

Commenting on the deal, Thierry Bjalon, country manager for BP²I in the UK, says: "IT transformation is critical to our business success and we have selected Atos Origin because of its position in financial services, its delivery track record and experience of managing desktop services solutions."

Keith Wilman, CEO for Atos Origin in the UK, says the contract supports the company's strategy to grow its business organically, particularly in outsourcing.
